2020 Responsible Business Plan

Our 2020 worldwide strategy includes locally relevant actions targeting the following areas within our managed hotel portfolio. We also encourage our independently owned and operated franchise hotels to participate in these programs and initiatives.

THINK PEOPLE

We will promote and enhance human rights within our sphere of influence - in our managed hotels and our tier 1 supply chain - with a specific focus on preventing child sexual exploitation, all forms of human trafficking and forced or bonded labor.

We will create shared value through employment for a diverse workforce including jobs and developmental training opportunities for underprivileged, at-risk or differently abled individuals.

THINK COMMUNITY

We will continue to create a ripple effect of positive impact through meaningful donations and community action in strategic social areas. We will specifically contribute our time and resources to serve our local communities around the world.

THINK PLANET

Based on successful Think Planet actions over the past years, our managed hotel’s target is to further reduce their carbon and water footprints 10 percent by the year 2020.

Because of our strong growth in emerging markets, many of which are confronted with water stress, we will focus on reducing our footprint in water scarce areas.

Additionally, we will increase our recycling efforts with a specific focus on reducing food waste.
