Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts’ hotels across Europe are donating funds to enable Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust to restore an area of native woodland at its Idle Valley Nature Reserve in the north of the county and to plant an avenue of cricket bat willows to generate future income. The partnership between PPHE Hotel Group and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust was borne out of Park Plaza Nottingham’s neighboring restaurant, OAKS, which cooks much of its food on embers of wood purchased from the charity’s nature reserves.
Fundraising activities at Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts included a coconut tree-themed cocktail and mocktail, hotel check-out donations, and cake sales, all of which contributed a total of more than USD 12,500 to the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and World Childhood Foundation.
At the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, the trees, plants and poster in the lobby, and £1.00 added to room bills helped raise awareness of the campaign to more than 20,000 guests who stayed at the hotel.
