Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world's largest and most dynamic hotel groups, today shared highlights from its 2014 Responsible Business Action Month in the Americas and Asia Pacific. Responsible Business Action Month takes place every September across the globe. Now in its 11th year, corporate and regional offices as well as hotels are encouraged to take action in their communities by organizing social and environmental service and fundraising activities for employees and guests alike.
For the third year in a row, Club CarlsonSM, the global hotel rewards program for Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, in partnership with The Carlson Family Foundation, matched the dollars that were donated to World Childhood Foundation by Club Carlson members through Gold Points in the month of September. In addition, the ongoing charity program for Radisson, Spread the Love, invited guests to participate in a special promotion for the month raising funds in support of World Childhood Foundation as well as 22 local charities. In addition, Carlson Rezidor employees from its global corporate headquarters and Minneapolis area hotels volunteered over 2,160 hours to build a Habitat for Humanity home. This was the fourth home in North Minneapolis the company has sponsored.
In Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor hotels and regional offices engaged in fund raising for those affected by flooding in Jammu and Kashmir, India, organized a health check-up camp at Destitute Home for Girls in Noida, India and recommitted for the next three years to sponsoring school fees for underprivileged children in China. Over 27,000 employees and guests participated in Responsible Business Action Month activities in Asia Pacific. In addition, as of September 1, 2014 all Carlson Rezidor leased and managed hotels and food and beverage outlets in Asia Pacific banned shark fin from their menus.
“Responsible business means taking care of people, community and the environment and I am proud of the enormous commitment and engagement Carlsonians across the world share to become leaders for good in the communities where we serve,” said David P. Berg, chief operating officer, Carlson.
