Carlson Hotels Worldwide today reported continuing strong growth during 2008, adding a total of 89 hotels to its five brands globally and achieving record system-wide revenues of $7.5 billion, an eight percent increase over the previous year. The year was highlighted by the opening of the company's 1,000th property, the 252-room Radisson St Martin Resort, Marina & Spa, a flagship resort for the Radisson brand. The landmark opening was dedicated to a global initiative of environmental sustainability and responsible business.

Global hotel openings in 2008 spanned the world with new locations in such key cities as London, Paris, Zurich, Moscow, Shanghai, Johannesburg, São Paulo, Dubai, Orlando and Dallas. The company also opened its first properties in Romania (Radisson SAS Hotel, Bucharest) and Mali (Radisson Hotel, Bamako).

At year end, Carlson Hotels added 15 properties in December, including Radisson hotels in Antwerp, Belgium; Johannesburg, South Africa; Trysil, Norway; Dresden, Germany; Paris, France; and the island of St Martin; Country Inn & Suites By Carlsonsm hotels in Tallahassee, Fla.; Yulee, Fla.; Marion, Ill.; Meridian, Miss.; and Ontario, Calif.; and Park Inn®hotels in Peterborough, Great Britain; Belfast, Northern Ireland; Antwerp, Belgium; and Murmansk, Russia. Carlson hotel brands also include Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts and Regent Hotels & Resorts. Carlson's worldwide portfolio now totals 1,013 hotels with 151,077 rooms in 74 countries.

Regent Hotels & Resorts
With the opening of two new properties in 2008 and nine additional locations scheduled through 2013, Regent Hotels & Resorts continues to bring world-class luxury to new destinations worldwide.

The newest properties include the 2008 openings of The Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux, a 150-room hotel with interiors by renowned international designer Jacques Garcia; and The Regent Bal Harbour, the first hotel to open in South Florida's Bal Harbour Village in over 50 years.

Openings planned for 2009 include The Regent Maldives, a 50-villa private island resort on picturesque Maalefushi Island; and The Regent Phuket Cape Panwa, a 106-room resort located on the south-eastern tip of Phuket Island, Thailand.

Radisson Hotels & Resorts
The newest Radisson hotels to open in December include the Radisson St Martin Resort, Marina & Spa on the island of St Martin, and the Radisson Ambassador Hotel Paris Opéra in the center of the city's Opera district. With the addition of these hotels, Radisson's global portfolio currently includes 407 hotels with 89,314 guestrooms.

Nestled in the picturesque cove of Anse Marcel, the Radisson St Martin Resort, Marina & Spa features 1,600 feet of white-sand beachfront, 500 square feet of meeting space and a 150-slip marina. The resort offers 63 suites and 189 guestrooms; a signature beachfront restaurant with al fresco dining; casual, market-style restaurant and lobby tapas bar. The resort also includes a stunning zero-entry infinity pool, full-service spa and fitness center.

The Radisson Ambassador Hotel Paris Opéra offers guests comfortable and stylish hospitality in the heart of Paris, combining luxury Art Deco features from the 1920s with state-of-the-art amenities. The hotel offers 294 guestrooms, a fitness center with views of the Paris skyline, and Le 16 Haussmann, a renowned Parisian restaurant.

Radisson Edwardian Hotels, Carlson's partner in the United Kingdom, renovated and reopened a four-star property in central London in 2008, the Radisson Edwardian Leicester Square. The stylish hotel features a cosmopolitan design in its 60 bedrooms, a welcoming bar and contemporary seafood café, plus a fitness facility and three meeting rooms.

Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts
Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts opened two new hotels in 2008 bringing the brand to a total global presence of 35 properties and 5,749 guestrooms. Offering 88 spacious rooms, the Park Plaza Noida, India opened in the city's primary business and shopping district. The Park Plaza County Hall London opened on the south side of the River Thames next to London's County Hall and within minutes of some of the city's most famous attractions, including the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The hotel offers 398 well-appointed, comfortable guestrooms including Superior and Studio rooms, Junior Suites and Penthouses and is the brand's fourth location in London.

Construction is also continuing on the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, the brand's new flagship property scheduled to open in 2010. Located in the heart of London opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, the hotel will offer 1,021 spacious guestrooms and some of the largest conference facilities in Europe.

Country Inns & Suites By Carlson
Country Inns & Suites By Carlson added five new locations in December, the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Tallahassee NW (I-10) in Florida, owned by Shri Mahaveer, Inc.; the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Yulee in Florida, owned by C.I. Hotel at Yulee, LLC; the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Marion in Illinois; the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Meridian in Mississippi, owned by Meridian CIS, LLC; and the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Ontario Mills in Ontario, California, owned by Sainath Corporation. With the addition of these five new hotels the brand currently consists of 469 hotels and 37,443 guestrooms.

Other new locations in 2008 include the new 101-room Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Savannah Historic District in Georgia, owned by Tara of Savannah LLC and the new 100-room Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Manchester Airport in Bedford, New Hampshire, owned by Vista Heights Properties, LLC. Both hotels feature a vibrant new interior design package that is being introduced in Country Inns & Suites By Carlson system-wide.

The Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Savannah Historic District was the brand's 450th property, offering a prime location within walking distance to all of Savannah's historical attractions. The hotel also features an indoor pool, fitness room and valet laundry service. Other amenities include a complimentary hot continental breakfast, a 70 person capacity meeting room with a 60-inch wall-mounted plasma flat screen television and built-in audio system, and two boardrooms.

The Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Manchester Airport is the brand's first location in New Hampshire offering convenience for both business and leisure travelers seeking airport accommodations. Located only four miles from downtown and the Manchester Airport, the hotel features an indoor heated pool, whirlpool, fitness center and a game room. All rooms feature complimentary wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, refrigerator, microwave and 32-inch flat screen television.

Park Inn
The Rezidor Hotel Group, Carlson's partner in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, opened four new Park Inn locations in December, the Park Inn Peterborough and the Park Inn Belfast in the United Kingdom; the Park Inn Antwerpen in Belgium; and the Park Inn Poliarnie Zory in Murmansk, Russia. These four new hotels increase the Park Inn portfolio to 94 hotels and 16,252 guestrooms worldwide.

The Park Inn Poliarnie Zory offers 264 comfortable rooms and beautiful views of the Kola Bay. Located less than 20 miles from Murmansk, Russia, the hotel features a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and fitness center, as well as Anchor, a full-service restaurant. Nearby recreation includes tennis, skating, mountain skiing and snowboarding.

Opened earlier in 2008, The Park Inn Ostrava is the brand's first hotel in the Czech Republic and the largest international branded hotel in the Moravian - Silesian region. Adjacent to The Orchard, an international office complex, the hotel provides 185 modern guest rooms and suites designed in the colorful Park Inn style. The hotel also includes a restaurant, fitness center and spa area with large steam room, Jacuzzi and sauna area.
